New journey of “My First Calendar” begins!

My First Calendar is a speech therapy tool that we released a couple of years ago. It is a visual, easy-to-use calendar app for preschoolers and elementary school students. Kids can use the app to keep a diary with text-based, visual or spoken entries or mark upcoming events to the calendar. Entries in the diary can then be used to help speech therapy sessions: diary entries provide a very good place for telling stories that train vocabulary and speech sounds.

You can find the app in Google Play and Appstore.

We recently heard about an accelerator project that sought education innovations across Europe to develop and scale up. This accelerator is part of the European Commission’s European Digital Education Hub initiative and features mentors from the Finnish innovation and education consultancy Educraftor. We recently relaunched My First Calendar as free-to-download and already implementing plans to reach new markets. We saw a great fit with our product and as we are always looking for the new opportunities to expand our work within edtech field, we applied to be part of the accelerator – and we got in!

Last week MiTale took part in the accelerator’s kick-off event held in Skælskør, Denmark. The event was a busy yet cozy gathering of likeminded startups and EdTech entrepreneurs. We had good, fruitful conversations with everyone and got lots to think about for the future of our My First Calendar app.

During this Summer and Autumn we will be working on My First Calendar in the accelerator to get it to new markets. We will be posting updates regarding the app and what’s happening with it, so keep an eye out for that! And if you are interested about the accelerator itself, here’s an article about it by the European Commission.
